What's the difference between
Standing Stones Photography
and
mall photographers?
Location. I, as an
independent photographer, personalize your session, by shooting
on location and go most anywhere you want
to be photographed, including your home.
Style. Photography,
when approached with passion, is an art. Many of the mall and chain
photography studios have standard poses and settings and lighting that
they use with everyone. As an independantly owned and operated
business, I have developed my own style and I do things my way. Part
of my style is to do my best to capture the individual's own unique
personna, character...
Personalized Customer
Service. In my business I do most everything - photography,
marketing, editing/retouching, consulting, presentation/sales.... I
don't use a precise menu of poses to follow. This results in
very personalized one on one service. When in your
sales/presentation appointment, you are speaking to the person who will be
doing the actual work on the images and knows exactly how an image should
look and how it will turn out in the finished product. I take the
time to go over with you how the images will look cropped certain ways so
you will get no surprises with your final prints. The high volume
mall studios simply don't have time to do all this because they are busy
getting people in and getting them out.
About the only thing I don't do is
manufacture the actual prints or products, as I have my labs and
manufacturers do that. I use professional labs that are highly
respected among professional photographers.
Creativity. Because I
work for myself, I allow for creativity. I want to show your
uniqueness in your images, so I allow for "flow". I get ideas,
you get ideas, we go with them. And I do my best to get the real you
and not just a canned pose of someone that looks like you.
Price. Think of it
this way, the chain photographers, with the prices they charge,
cannot afford to take the time to cater to the individual. They have
to follow a strict tried and proven plan that works for the masses.
Yes, there is going to be a price difference when you work with someone
who caters so much to the individual that they can only schedule one or
two sessions in a day. My advice here is, when deciding
on a photographer, first and foremost be sure you like
their work - their style. It's better to spend a little
more than realizing you spent less than you should.

Is there
something that you've not gotten around to purchasing from me that you
still want? Let me know who your Santa is and what it is you want
and I'll let him know and maybe, just maybe, you might find it under the
tree this year!
